BRIGHTON ROCKS BOOKS!

5/6/2015

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary, over many a glass of wine with writer friends Nikki Sheehan and Lisa Heathfield, I noticed just how many MG and YA writers we have here in my hometown of Brighton. And an evil plan began to form in my brain...

A couple of months, numerous emails, some long lunches and possibly a tiny bit of panicking later, we had rounded up a bunch of fabulous local authors and press-ganged them into taking part in an event. Then we chatted to the wonderful folk at Jubilee Library and discovered that the 11th of July was the start of their Summer Reading Challenge, and they kindly agreed to partner with us to set it up. The also-wonderful folk at children's bookshop The Book Nook agreed to come along to sell books, and, voila, we had an amazing day of events entitled Brighton Rocks Books. Behold!

3.15pm: Toxic! Why are dark themes so compelling in YA fiction? YA panel (13+), featuring Lisa Heathfield (SEED), Eve Ainsworth (7 DAYS), Jess Vallance (BIRDY), Nicky Singer (FEATHER BOY)

Panels will be moderated by award-winning blogger Vivienne DaCosta, and each panel will end with a Q&A session.
Participating authors will also be signing their books at various times throught the day, thanks to The Book Nook.
Bonus: Jubilee Library has a brilliant cafe right next to where all the events will be going on.

So if you fancy a summer's day by the seaside with BOOKS (and let's face it, who doesn't?) we hope to see you there!

Wow! I'm really fascinated on the looks of your library. It's an ideal place to hold a meaningful interview with various writers. I wish that I can go to that place and attend your event. I want to personally meet seasoned writers and receive a meaningful advice from them. I know that the advice they will provide can help me to establish my own storybook. Good luck on your event, I'm sure that it's going to be successful.

Delighted to hear about this event and about your book, Tatum. We met at SCWBI retreat last year. I'll try to come along- sounds great. Always keen to hear about any writing events in the area. I come down a lot.
